Tomato and sweet onion salad

Delight in the fresh flavors of ripe tomatoes and sweet onions with this vibrant and refreshing salad. A perfect balance of tangy and sweet notes.

Ingredients:

  • 1 medium Vidalia onion, halved and thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 6 large tomatoes, sliced 1/2 inch thick
  • Salt
  • 3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 2 jalapeños, seeded and minced
  • 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro

Instructions:

  1. Combine the onion slices with the sugar in a medium bowl and add cold water. Allow to soak for 10 minutes. After that, remove the onion from the water, rinse it, and gently dry it with a paper towel.
  2. Arrange the tomato and onion slices on a big plate or in a dish; season with salt and pour over the olive oil generously. Scatter the jalapeños and cilantro on top and present.
