The cheeseburger salad
Indulge in a mouthwatering blend of fresh veggies, savory ground beef, zesty pickles, and creamy cheese dressing with this delectable cheeseburger salad.
Ingredients:
- 340g 90% lean ground sirloin
- ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- Cooking spray
- 1 large red onion, peeled and cut horizontally into 1/4-inch-thick slices
- 1 (10-ounce) package chopped romaine hearts
- 1 ½ cups chopped tomato
- 90g 2% reduced-fat cheddar cheese, shredded (about 3/4 cup)
- ⅓ cup canola mayonnaise
- ¼ cup unsalted ketchup
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 ½ ounces reduced-fat kettle-cooked potato chips
Instructions:
- Form ground beef into 2 patties that are 1 inch thick; season with salt and pepper. Take a skillet and place it on medium-high heat. Grease the pan with cooking spray. Place the patties in the skillet; cook for 3 to 4 minutes on each side.
- Add sliced onion to the skillet; cook for 5 to 6 minutes until they caramelize. Once done, separate the cooked onion into rings. Cut the cooked burgers into small, bite-sized pieces. Distribute romaine lettuce, burgers, onion, tomato, and cheese evenly among 4 bowls.
- In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, ketchup, and 2 tablespoons of water using a whisk; drizzle the mixture evenly over the salads. Gently crush the potato chips by hand and sprinkle them evenly over the salads.
