Ingredients:

  • 340g 90% lean ground sirloin
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • Cooking spray
  • 1 large red onion, peeled and cut horizontally into 1/4-inch-thick slices
  • 1 (10-ounce) package chopped romaine hearts
  • 1 ½ cups chopped tomato
  • 90g 2% reduced-fat cheddar cheese, shredded (about 3/4 cup)
  • ⅓ cup canola mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup unsalted ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 ½ ounces reduced-fat kettle-cooked potato chips

Instructions:

  1. Form ground beef into 2 patties that are 1 inch thick; season with salt and pepper. Take a skillet and place it on medium-high heat. Grease the pan with cooking spray. Place the patties in the skillet; cook for 3 to 4 minutes on each side.
  2. Add sliced onion to the skillet; cook for 5 to 6 minutes until they caramelize. Once done, separate the cooked onion into rings. Cut the cooked burgers into small, bite-sized pieces. Distribute romaine lettuce, burgers, onion, tomato, and cheese evenly among 4 bowls.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, ketchup, and 2 tablespoons of water using a whisk; drizzle the mixture evenly over the salads. Gently crush the potato chips by hand and sprinkle them evenly over the salads.
