Steak salad with fried green tomatillos

Indulge in the flavorful blend of tender steak and crispy fried green tomatillos in this delectable salad. Perfect for a satisfying meal.

Ingredients:

  • 450g tomatillos, husked and halved
  • 2 jalapeños, halved and seeded
  • 1 small onion, sliced 1/2 inch thick
  • 2 garlic cloves, unpeeled
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup cilantro leaves
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • Salt and freshly ground pepper

Instructions:

  1. Heat up a grill pan. Combine the tomatillos, jalapeños, onion and garlic with 2 tablespoons of oil in a bowl. Cook over high heat, turning from time to time, until the vegetables are a bit softened and charred in some areas, approximately 5 minutes. Allow the mixture to cool slightly, then move it to a food processor. Pulse until roughly chopped. Mix in the cilantro, lime juice and the remaining 2 tablespoons of oil and pulse until the mixture is chunky. Season with salt and pepper and serve while still warm or at room temperature.
