Kismur - a dry shrimp salad.

Indulge in the flavors of the coast with a delightful Kismur salad, featuring the perfect blend of crunchy veggies and savory dry shrimp. Perfect for a refreshing meal!

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup Dry prawns (preferably larger ones)
  • 1/2 cup Freshly grated coconut (using a coconut scraper)
  • 1 Large onion, chopped finely
  • 1/2 teaspoon Tamarind paste
  • 1 teaspoon Oil (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cayenne powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the dried shrimp by removing the head, legs, and tails.
  2. Grill the shrimp over medium heat on a cast iron grill or skillet.
  3. Continuously stir; once they turn golden brown, remove from heat (you may add oil while grilling if needed). They will become crispy and crunchy after some time.
  4. Thoroughly combine coconut, cayenne pepper, turmeric, tamarind paste, and salt.
  5. Just before serving, mix in the shrimp pieces and diced onions and stir well one more time.
  6. Avoid adding shrimp in advance to prevent them from becoming soft.
  7. Serve as a side dish with Dal and Rice or Fish Curry with Rice.
