Iraqi summag (sumac) salad

Ingredients:

  • 2 large cucumbers
  • 1 large tomato
  • 1/4 medium onion
  • 1 tablespoon sumac
  • salt
  • olive oil

Instructions:

  1. Remove the skin of the cucumbers in stripes. Cut the cucumbers in half lengthwise. Cut each of these halves into half-moon shapes, ensuring they are 1-2 mm thick. Place the cucumbers in a bowl for the salad.
  2. Dice the tomato into bite-sized pieces - make sure they are not too big or too small. Combine with the cucumbers.
  3. Cut the onion into long strips and mix with the tomato and cucumber.
  4. Pour approximately 1 tablespoon of olive oil over the salad, then sprinkle sumac and salt according to your preference. Stir everything together thoroughly. Bon appétit.
