Ingredients:

  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 large head iceberg lettuce
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup ketchup or chili sauce
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped garlic or half-sour pickles
  • A splash of water, optional
  • Salt and pepper

Instructions:

  1. Chill salad plates quickly by putting them in the freezer. 
  2. Boil eggs in a small, deep pot filled with cold water. Cover the pot and bring it to a boil. Once boiling, turn off the heat. Let the eggs sit for 15 minutes. Then, rinse them with cold water to cool. 
  3. Remove the core from an iceberg lettuce by firmly tapping it on a counter and pulling it off. Cut the lettuce head into quarters lengthwise. 
  4. Mix mayonnaise, ketchup or chili sauce, and finely chopped garlic or half-sour pickles. If the dressing is too thick, add a bit of water. Season with salt and pepper. 
  5. Dice the cooled, boiled eggs. Take out the chilled salad plates from the freezer. Place a quarter of iceberg lettuce on each plate. Drizzle the dressing over the lettuce and top with chopped egg.
