Ham and swiss frittata

Delight in the perfect blend of savory ham and creamy Swiss cheese in this delectable frittata bursting with flavor and texture. Perfect for brunch!

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 shallot, sliced
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/4 cup half-and-half
  • 8 large eggs
  • 1 cup grated Swiss cheese
  • 1 cup diced deli ham
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh chives, plus more for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the broiler in your oven. Heat the butter in a medium nonstick pan over medium heat until melted. Add the shallot and season with 1/4 teaspoon of salt and a bit of pepper. Cook while stirring occasionally until the shallot becomes soft, which should take about 5 minutes. Take it off the heat and let it cool. Keep the pan for later use when cooking the frittata.
  2. In the meantime, mix together the half-and-half and eggs in a medium bowl along with 1/4 teaspoon salt and some pepper until the mixture is smooth. Add the cooled shallots, cheese, parsley, and chives and stir well to combine them.
  3. Warm up the pan you set aside over medium heat. Pour the egg mixture into the pan and stir a few times. Let it cook without stirring until the bottom sets, which should be around 5 minutes. Then, place the pan in the oven and broil until the eggs are just set, usually around 5 more minutes. Remove from the oven and allow it to sit for 5 minutes. Transfer the frittata onto a large plate or cutting board. Cut it into wedges and sprinkle some more chives on top. Serve it warm or at room temperature along with a green salad if desired.
