Ham and swiss frittata
Delight in the perfect blend of savory ham and creamy Swiss cheese in this delectable frittata bursting with flavor and texture. Perfect for brunch!
Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1 shallot, sliced
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
- 1/4 cup half-and-half
- 8 large eggs
- 1 cup grated Swiss cheese
- 1 cup diced deli ham
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh chives, plus more for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat the broiler in your oven. Heat the butter in a medium nonstick pan over medium heat until melted. Add the shallot and season with 1/4 teaspoon of salt and a bit of pepper. Cook while stirring occasionally until the shallot becomes soft, which should take about 5 minutes. Take it off the heat and let it cool. Keep the pan for later use when cooking the frittata.
- In the meantime, mix together the half-and-half and eggs in a medium bowl along with 1/4 teaspoon salt and some pepper until the mixture is smooth. Add the cooled shallots, cheese, parsley, and chives and stir well to combine them.
- Warm up the pan you set aside over medium heat. Pour the egg mixture into the pan and stir a few times. Let it cook without stirring until the bottom sets, which should be around 5 minutes. Then, place the pan in the oven and broil until the eggs are just set, usually around 5 more minutes. Remove from the oven and allow it to sit for 5 minutes. Transfer the frittata onto a large plate or cutting board. Cut it into wedges and sprinkle some more chives on top. Serve it warm or at room temperature along with a green salad if desired.
