Grilled tofu salad with miso dressing
Indulge in the flavors of a grilled tofu salad drizzled with savory miso dressing, a delightful combination of charred goodness and umami richness.
Ingredients:
- 400g extra firm tofu
- 2 teaspoons cooking oil
- 2 tablespoons Miso & Easy (3 teaspoons miso paste + 3 teaspoons hot water), divided
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon oil for salad (olive, canola, vegetable, grapeseed)
- 4 handfuls of salad greens + any other salad vegetables of your choice
Instructions:
- Slice the tofu block into slices that are 1/2" thick. Use a towel to dry each slice of tofu on both sides.
- In a small bowl, put half of the miso (save the other half for the dressing). Apply the miso to one side of the tofu using a brush.
- In a frying pan over medium-high heat, pour the cooking oil and place the tofu with the miso side facing down. Cook for 2-3 minutes until it becomes browned. Brush more miso on the top of the tofu. Gently flip the tofu and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
- Mix together the remaining miso, soy sauce, ginger, water, sesame oil, and sugar. Slowly add the oil while whisking until the dressing is smooth.
- Arrange the salad greens and vegetables on a plate, and serve with the grilled slices of tofu and miso dressing.
