Five-ingredient green bean salad

Discover the simplicity of this vibrant green bean salad with just five delicious ingredients. Perfect for a quick and tasty meal or side dish.

Ingredients:

  • 450g young green beans
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
  • 1 handful chopped cilantro leaves (and stems, too, if they are tender)
  • salt

Instructions:

  1. Remove stems from green beans and heat a pot of water with salt until it boils. (Salt the water generously, similar to how you would when cooking pasta.)
  2. Cook green beans in boiling water for 1 to 3 minutes, depending on their thickness. Aim for them to be slightly crunchy and almost raw, as they will not be placed in ice water afterward.
  3. Crush garlic (using a meat pounder, if preferred) and add salt. Continue chopping until it forms a paste.
  4. Combine the garlic, cilantro, and sesame oil in the serving bowl.
  5. After draining the beans, allow them to sit for around 20 seconds to let some of the steam escape. Then transfer them to the salad bowl. Let them sit for another 10 to 15 minutes, or until you can't resist any longer.
  6. Mix everything well and then serve.
