Feel-good fruit salad

Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup toasted sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons tamari
  • 1 tablespoon sherry vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon hot chili oil
  • ½ teaspoon sugar
  • 3 blood oranges, peeled
  • 3 navel oranges, peeled
  • 3 Cara Cara oranges, peeled
  • 2 avocados, sliced
  • 1 red Fresno chile, thinly sliced
  • 1 small shallot, thinly sliced
  • ¼ cup torn fresh mint
  • ¼ cup fresh cilantro leaves

Instructions:

  1. Combine sesame oil, tamari, sherry vinegar, balsamic vinegar, chili oil, and sugar in a small bowl and whisk until well mixed, about 20 seconds. Set the mixture aside.
  2. Slice the oranges horizontally into thin 1/4-inch slices. Arrange the orange and avocado slices evenly on 8 salad plates, layering them alternately. Garnish the salads with slices of chile and shallot. Pour 1 tablespoon of the vinaigrette over each salad; top with mint and cilantro leaves.
