Duck and apple wontons
Indulge in the exquisite flavors of tender duck and crisp apple encased in delicate wonton wrappers. A perfect blend of savory and sweet in every bite.
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons salad oil
- 4 duck breasts, skinless
- 3 Granny Smith apples, peeled cored, and diced small
- 2 tablespoons raisins
- 1 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder
- 1 teaspoon chopped fresh garlic (1 garlic clove)
- 1 teaspoon chopped red onion
- 2 teaspoons chopped fresh cilantro leaves
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
- 16 wonton skins
- 1/2 cup duck sauce, soy sauce, Chinese hot sauce, or your other favorite dipping sauce
Instructions:
- Heat oil in a saute pan over high heat. Cook duck breasts until they reach medium rare doneness. Take them out of the pan and allow them to cool down. In the same pan, cook apples, raisins, five-spice powder, garlic, and onion until they are soft. Take the mixture off the heat, stir in cilantro, and season with salt and pepper. Once the mixture has cooled down, cut the duck into small pieces, add it to the apple mixture, and mix thoroughly. Place the wonton wrappers on a clean surface. Put a small amount of the mixture onto each wrapper, fold them over, and seal the edges by wetting them with a little water, ensuring no filling leaks out. The wontons can be either deep-fried or steamed using a steamer basket. Serve with your preferred dipping sauce.
