Citrus salad with star anise syrup

- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup water
- 3 whole star anise
- 5 large ruby red or pink grapefruit
- 4 blood oranges
Instructions:
- Combine sugar and water in a small sturdy saucepan and heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Mix in star anise and let it simmer for 5 minutes. Allow it to rest off the heat for 30 minutes.

- Pour the syrup with star anise into the bowl with the fruit and juice, and mix carefully. Optionally, take out the star anise before serving.
