Cardamom citrus salad with a crunch!
Indulge in the vibrant flavors of cardamom and zesty citrus in this refreshing salad, complete with a satisfying crunch. Perfect for a light and flavorful meal.
Ingredients:
- 1 pink grapefruit
- 1 navel orange
- 2 blood oranges
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/2 tablespoon ground cardamom
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 pinch sea salt
- 1/4 cup pistachios, chopped
Instructions:
- Peel off the skin of the grapefruit and oranges. Gently slice them into sections, place in a container & keep any juice obtained during this procedure.
- Transfer the saved juice into a small pot. Include the honey, cardamom, cloves and salt.
- Bring the honey mixture to a boil and then lower the heat to a gentle simmer. Let it simmer for 10 minutes.
- Once 10 minutes have passed, turn off the stove and allow the honey mixture to cool down to room temperature.
- Arrange the fruit sections into individual serving bowls and drizzle the honey mixture on top.
- Refrigerate the bowls for a minimum of 10 minutes before serving. Extending the refrigeration time is even more beneficial!
- While the bowls are chilling, lightly toast the chopped pistachios in a dry pan over medium heat until they emit a pleasant aroma. Remove the pan from the heat and transfer the pistachios to a bowl to stop further cooking.
- Sprinkle the toasted pistachios on top of the bowls just before serving and savor the dish!
