Caesar salad
Indulge in the classic flavors of a Caesar salad; crisp romaine lettuce, Parmesan cheese, crunchy croutons, and creamy dressing. A blend of savory and fresh, perfect for any meal.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup cubed homemade-style white or Italian bread (1/2-inch croutons)
- 1 garlic clove
- Salt and pepper
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 medium head romaine lettuce, leaves separated, washed, dried and chilled
- Juice of 1/2 lemon
- 3 drops Worcestershire sauce
- 1 egg, boiled for 1 minute
- 2 tablespoons freshly-grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions:
- To dehydrate bread cubes, place them in a low-temperature oven at 160 °C for 20 minutes until they are dry but not browned. In a separate bowl, crush garlic with 1/4 teaspoon of salt using 2 tablespoons of oil and let it sit for 20 minutes. Filter the oil using a strainer into a saute pan and warm it over low heat. Mix in the bread cubes, ensuring they are coated, and cook until they turn slightly golden. In a spacious salad bowl, mix romaine lettuce with the remaining olive oil until evenly coated. Add lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, crack an egg over the salad, sprinkle Parmesan cheese, and season with salt and pepper to preference. Gently mix the salad, lifting the leaves from the bottom, being careful not to damage them. Finally, add the dehydrated bread cubes and serve promptly on chilled plates.
