Asian inspired beef salad

Experience the bold flavors of Asia with this tantalizing beef salad recipe. Juicy beef strips paired with crunchy vegetables and vibrant dressing.

Ingredients:

  • Dressing
  • 3 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 3 tablespoons fish sauce
  • 3 tablespoons unrefined sugar
  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons lemongrass, microplaned
  • 1 tablespoon lime zest
  • 2 teaspoons serrano chili, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons canola oil
  • Salad
  • 450g beef sirloin, grass fed preferred
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • kosher salt
  • fresh cracked black pepper
  • 2 cups red leafed baby romaine
  • 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/3 cup basil, roughly chopped
  • 1/3 cup cilantro, roughly chopped
  • 1/3 cup mint, roughly chopped
  • 1/2 red pepper, thinly sliced
  • 2 vine ripe tomatoes, cut in quarters

Instructions:

  2. Mix all the ingredients in a small jar and shake well. Let it sit for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Salad
  4. Coat the beef with sesame oil and season it with salt and pepper.
  5. In a salad bowl, mix together the lettuce, herbs, red onion, and red pepper. Toss them together.
  6. Heat a grill pan on the stove and cook the beef until it reaches your desired level of doneness. For medium rare, this should take about 2 - 3 minutes per side depending on the thickness of the meat. Cut the meat into thin strips.
  7. Mix the greens with a third of the prepared dressing.
  8. Place the salad greens on serving plates. Arrange the sliced beef and tomatoes on top. Drizzle the remaining dressing over each salad.
