Milk Chocolate Mousse Delight
This decadent chocolate mousse recipe combines heavy cream, whole milk, dark chocolate, egg whites, sugar, and vanilla extract to create a rich and airy dessert. The mousse is topped with chocolate shavings for an elegant finish.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 200g dark chocolate (at least 70% cocoa), chopped
- 4 large egg whites
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- Chocolate shavings (for garnish)
Instructions:
- In a medium saucepan, heat the whole milk and granulated sugar over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is warm but not boiling.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and add the chopped dark chocolate. Let it sit for a minute, then whisk until smooth and all chocolate is melted. Allow to cool slightly.
- In a large bowl, whip the heavy cream with the vanilla extract until soft peaks form. Be careful not to overwhip; you want it to remain airy.
- In another bowl, whisk the egg whites with a pinch of salt until soft peaks form. Gradually add a tablespoon of sugar and whisk until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold the chocolate mixture into the whipped cream until just combined. Then, fold in the whipped egg whites, being careful to maintain the airy texture.
- Evenly distribute the mousse mixture into serving cups or bowls. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until set.
- Before serving, garnish with chocolate shavings on top for an elegant touch.
