Creamy Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Creamy Garlic Mashed Potatoes

A creamy garlic mashed potato dish made with tender potatoes, rich unsalted butter, and a touch of milk for smoothness. The minced garlic adds depth of flavor, while salt and pepper season the dish perfectly. Garnished with fresh chives, this comforting side dish is perfect for any meal.

Ingredients:

  • 4 medium potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Chives, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. In a large pot, add the peeled and chunked potatoes and cover with cold water. Add a pinch of salt and bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
  2. Once boiling, reduce heat to medium and cook for about 15-20 minutes or until the potatoes are tender when pierced with a fork.
  3. While the potatoes are cooking, melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 2-3 minutes, until fragrant but not browned.
  4. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Using a potato masher or fork, mash the potatoes until smooth.
  5. Slowly add the milk and melted garlic butter to the mashed potatoes, mixing continuously until creamy and well combined.
  6. Season with salt and black pepper to taste, adjusting for preferred flavor.
  7. Transfer the mashed potatoes to a serving bowl and garnish with chopped chives. Serve warm.
